The Arab Network for National Institutions for Human Rights approved the request of the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights in Libya to restore its membership in the Arab Network.

The National Council for Freedoms had submitted to the General Secretariat, which was keen to restore membership to Libya, a request to restore the council’s membership to the Arab Network for National Institutions for Human Rights, including all the required documents.

 The Network’s General Assembly issued approval for the return of membership of the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights, after reviewing the Secretary-General “Sultan Bin Hassan” and reviewing the Executive Committee of all presented documents and ensuring that they meet the conditions contained in Article No. (4) of the bylaws of the Arab Network.

According to the Media Office of the Eastern Regions Administration of the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights, the Secretary-General asked the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights to provide the General Secretariat with the needs of the Council and the challenges it faces in the field of building and raising capabilities and spreading the culture of human rights, in order to provide support to the Council through the programs of the Arab Network. .

Referred to as the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, it was established based on the consensus of the wills of national human rights institutions in the Arab world, at the seventh session of Arab national human rights institutions held in Nouakchott, April 27-28, 2011 (Nouakchott Declaration) with the aim of “promoting, developing and protecting human rights in the Arab world.” .

One of the most important tasks of the network – according to its official page – is to facilitate cooperation among its members in accordance with strong partnerships with governments, international and regional organizations, and civil society organizations, and to support and develop the cadres of member institutions and activate them by raising their capabilities and developing their skills, as well as contributing to enabling Arab institutions to obtain… Rating A in the ICC Accreditation Committee, and motivating Arab countries to establish national institutions in accordance with the Paris Principles.
