Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, to expedite the appointment of a new special envoy to Libya, noting that the situation in Libya continues to deteriorate. “Nebenzia” said during a session of the UN Security Council, today, Wednesday, that the position of the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Libya has been vacant for 4 months, and this undermines efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement in Libya. The Russian delegate pointed out that the military and political conditions in Libya continue to deteriorate.
