The Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Department stops issuing passports except for humanitarian cases.

Benghazi, February 10, 2018 (LANA) – The Passports, Nationality, and Foreigners Affairs Authority called for stopping the issuance of electronic passports, and limiting the issuance to humanitarian cases. In a statement issued by the heads of offices in the branches and departments of the Authority in the Eastern Region, and the Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department, the Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Department called for the issuance of a machine-readable passport for humanitarian and urgent cases and within the narrowest scope, in coordination with the head of the Department and the Administration, and the issuance of instructions from the President. The Authority regarding issuing a passport for the case that requires the issuance of a passport with the exception of the fingerprint capture requirement. The authority said in its statement, “In view of the completion of the capacity of the database tables allocated to the decimal fingerprint system of the national database, which is supervised by the National Number Project and which is technically connected with the Libyan machine-readable passport issuance system, in compliance with Law No. (8) of 2014 AD, regarding… The national number that requires the Passports Authority to feed the national database with the decimal fingerprint of every citizen who wishes to obtain a passport, and the passport issuance system was designed to rely on the fingerprint in the process of verifying that the passport is not issued repeatedly to the same citizen.

Tripoli, October 2, 2023 (LANA) – The Passports and Nationality Authority resumed the work of the machine-readable passport issuance system on Sunday, according to what the authority announced.

The authority explained on its Facebook page that 7,478 citizens had registered to obtain passports.

The authority added that the number of passports printed during the past four days reached (14,006) passports.

The system for issuing machine-readable passports began operating after maintenance work carried out by the work team specializing in the printing part of the passports, as it was showing weakness in its performance.

Tripoli, July 10, 2023 AD (WALA) – The Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Authority began installing the residency and visa system in the branches and departments of the Authority in the Eastern Region, based on the directives of the Minister of Interior.

The “Our Government” platform affiliated with the National Unity Government said that the system contains a new sticker bearing security features that are in line with modern technologies with high security specifications, in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the entry and residence of foreigners in Libya.

Tripoli, September 19, 2023 AD (LANA) – The Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior took a number of administrative measures to provide assistance to residents of the affected areas in eastern Libya.

According to the Ministry of Interior, these measures included facilitating the granting of entry visas to Arab and foreign relief and rescue teams, and facilitating approval procedures for the entry of United Nations and European Union rescue missions.

The measures also include sending work teams with mobile imaging systems to the affected areas to quickly issue passports for the injured and their companions, and assigning the passport printing system to issue urgent passports, by working 24 hours a day.

The procedures also include handing over handwritten travel documents to the Assistant Head of the Passports Authority in the Eastern Region for use in emergency cases, and delegating him to a set of powers to alleviate the suffering of direct communication with the head of the Passports Authority.

The Authority decided to form a committee headed by the Assistant Head of the Passport Authority in the Eastern Region and the membership of a number of officers, to work in the affected areas in these exceptional circumstances, communicate and submit a daily report on its work.

Tripoli, March 8, 2023 (LANA) – The Ministry of Finance of the Government of National Unity revealed today, Wednesday, that it has completed adjustments, promotions, bonuses, and data reconciliation for (1,323,594) employees within the unified salary scale.

The ministry’s official spokesman, Faisal Al-Hamali, said in a statement that the number of administrative units that completed the reconciliation reached (1,474) administrative units, and the path of (12,167) employees between sectors and administrative units was changed, and (98,997) cases resulting from; Duplication of employment, death and termination of service.

Sources of the National Unity Government stated that “Al-Dabaiba” announced the release of (54,000) fifty-four thousand citizens’ salaries after they stopped without redress for 7 years, indicating that – about (400) thousand financial figures are under the reconciliation procedure between the Ministry of Finance and other sectors.

 

Al-Dabaiba explained that the problems facing the employees of the Ministry of Environment have been solved, and their salaries that have been suspended for years have been disbursed with the salaries of January 2023, in addition to changing the course and settling the salary procedures for about (87) thousand employees in institutions affiliated with the state’s public treasury.
